If you’ve read our cheap web hosting reviews, you’ll know that we’re not too enthusiastic about how the bargain hosting industry operates.
This is how it usually goes.
They entice you in with a low-cost bid, but then provide poor service. We’re talking about Rogers Cable’s exorbitantly long downtimes, bad uptime, and the worst customer service.
We generally don’t recommend extremely cheap hosts, but with Hostinger we make an exception.
Since 2004, Hostinger has consistently provided the lowest cost, yet highest quality hosting to over 29 million customers.
We were skeptical of some of the other information about Hostinger that we found online. For the past 18 months, we’ve been following them. Here is a link to our live tracking.
In this review, we’ll look at their support and service from top to bottom to see how they compare to other popular web hosts—the good, the bad, and the great.
Pros-Positives of Hostinger
Up-time – 99.91%.
Hostinger had an overall uptime of 99.91 percent in 2018 – that’s excellent.
What does Uptime mean?
- Uptime-A percentage that indicates the total time the hosting provider is online and functioning normally.
- Hostinger’s average uptime in 2018 was 99.91%. This means that services were unavailable to users only 0.09% percent of the time.
- Other low-cost hosts have an average uptime of about 94 percent, which translates to around 525 hours of downtime each year. This is a huge difference.
- Good uptimes higher than 98% are more than desirable. An average of almost 100% is hands-down amazing.
Load time-389 ms
What does load time mean?
Hostinger’s total load time in 2018 was 389 milliseconds. This is significantly higher than the industry average.
And when compared to our curated list of the best hosting providers, Hostinger provides outstanding performance across the board.
Hosting Prices
This is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Hostinger. They provide an introductory price of $0.99 USD per month. It’s like they looked at the rest of the industry and said, “We can do better.”
We’ll get more into the specifics of what you get at this price below, but the main thing is that you get competitive uptime and loading speeds at this price.
Basically, you get really good hosting and save money. Definitely – it is possible to have good hosting at low prices. What a concept!
It really is the best of both when it comes to pricing and performance. For every cent spent, Hostinger is potentially the best hosting service on the market right now. Did we note that with a hosting kit, you get a free domain?
Hostinger Free Website Builder
Zyro – This free website builder from Hostinger is very impressive.
Most website builders included with hosting services are an afterthought, but Hostinger has introduced templates and construction features that can help a website create solid landing pages.
These templates aren’t going to blow anyone away, but the functionality is very similar to what you’d get from a leading landing page designer without having to use a separate service.
It comes with a number of useful features, both new and old, such as a free SSL license, unlimited SSD storage, and unlimited bandwidth.
Zyro AI Content Generator and Logo Maker have to be the most creative new features.
Use your creativity with Hostinger’s new feature that lets you create logos for your brand in no time. Reinvent your company’s logo with Zyro ‘ s Logo Maker.
Obviously landing page software are built for this so they are optimized for funnels and all that fun stuff, but this is an easy substitute if you are just looking for a page to throw on the internet.
In short, if you’re looking for affordable hosting ($0.99 per month) and want to throw up a website as quickly as possible, Hostinger is a fantastic option.
You want a domain, you want to send people somewhere, you’re not sure what else you need. All you would need to do is sign up and set up a quick site with Hostinger’s website builder.
30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Are fairly common in the hosting industry these days, but they’re still worth discussing.
Some hosting companies also do not have a money-back guarantee, and these companies can either change or vanish over time.
If a hosting service offers a money-back guarantee, then we could conclude two things:
1. the company wants to treat you right
2. they are confident in their offers.
Hostinger refers to their money-back guarantee as a free trial on certain sections of their website. This is a good way to look at these promises so you can avoid using the service if it doesn’t meet your expectations.
There are many products or services in this world that do not come with a money back guarantee. If there is an offer for a product you are looking for, it would be silly not to consider this when making a decision.
99.9% Uptime Guarantee
Hostinger promises that their servers will be up and running 99.9% of the time. Guarantees are important, as I mentioned a few sentences ago.
You will get some money back if this promise fails. If the uptime guarantee fails, you will get a refund of 5% of your monthly hosting fee for that month, according to the legal sign-up agreement with Hostinger. It’s not a lot, but it’s a start.
When a company offers a guarantee like this, it puts a lot on the line, and it demonstrates a high level of trust in their operation.
User friendly
I’ll talk about the control panel in the pros section and the cons section.
Here’s why it’s a pro: the control panel Hostinger uses is not a traditional cPanel. They have created their own.
This latest control panel is much more user-friendly than cPanel. This means that if you’re a beginner, you’ll enjoy it a lot more.
The purpose of this control panel was obviously to make using anything on the backend of your website as simple as possible.
SSL is available for free on all levels.
Today’s hosting should provide a free SSL certificate. Of course, with Hostinger, you’ll get a free SSL with every plan you buy.
What exactly is SSL? It stands for ” secure sockets layer protection. Basically, it is a secure data transfer between web browsers and web servers. You definitely want it if you are trying to build a successful business.
Not having an SSL certificate can improve your SEO rankings and cause users to leave your site if they find out you don’t have one.
Unlimited features when you upgrade
All the standard aspects you get with the first-tier plan will be unlocked further for a few dollars.
With the initial plan, you can only have a website, an email account, a database, and a limited amount of storage and bandwidth.
You will have unlimited websites, unlimited email accounts, unlimited databases, unlimited storage, and unlimited bandwidth if you choose a higher tier package. That’s what I’m talking about when I say “maximum successful efficiency.”
Payments are made in cryptocurrency.
Aren’t you a sharp cookie? You got into Bitcoin a long time ago, way before December 2017. I’m sure you purchased Bitcoins for a fraction of a penny in 2010.
Now that you are super rich in virtual currency, you might as well pay with it.
Cons-What we don’t like about Hostinger
No phone support
While the customer support at Hostinger is top notch, they don’t offer phone support.
Many people don’t like to talk on the phone when dealing with corporate customer support.
Sometimes-yes, sometimes-it’s nice to solve a problem quickly over the phone. There are certain situations where the back-and-forth over email or chat just doesn’t cut it.
Any service that does not have phone help should be penalized. What if you need to speak with somebody right away, like yesterday? In that case, chatting can irritate you.
Another oddity is that in order to actually speak with the customer service staff, you must first sign up. If you have already signed up, this is obviously not a concern.
If you are looking for information about the service before signing up, you definitely won’t be helped in the chat.
Control panel with a variety of functions
The control panel was also included in this review’s pros segment. The advantages are obvious: it’s easy to use, user-friendly, and more intuitive than conventional cPanel.
Assume you’re a web hosting aficionado, which some of the people reading this would be. They would be irritated by the fact that they will be using a separate control panel.
The new control panel’s learning curve isn’t particularly steep, so why repair something that isn’t broken? Many people have learned how to use a conventional cPanel to manage their hosted website.
Customer support and knowledge base
The disadvantages of Hostinger customer service have already been discussed. Let’s take a look at it as a whole now.
Customer service is what I like to think of as a multifunctional unit. If a part of the machine is missing, it does not mean the machine is defective or unusable; it also lacks basic features that are available on other machines.
That’s not a good or bad thing in most cases.
Hostinger lacks the phone feature of the customer support computer and has a strange little quirk where you have to sign in before you can talk to a person via chat.
However, once you start using this customer support engine, it is really reliable.
Every chat query we posed to Hostinger’s support team was answered in under five minutes, which is faster than the industry average.
The knowledge base is another important aspect of this engine that is often ignored. The knowledge base at Hostingers can answer almost any question you have.
The negative here is that it’s poorly organized and you’ll have to rely on the search bar to find what you’re looking for.
Last but not least, the company provides tutorials on a variety of topics that customers may find useful. They all have to do with creating a website and provide a lot of value to someone who is just getting started.
Pricing
Pricing is what really attracts you to use Hostinger, so let’s get into what is actually provided at that $0.99 price as well as the higher tiers.
All of these plans are set for locking in a subscription for 48 months. Four years – who the hell knows what’s going to happen in four years? That’s a long time and it’s sometimes hard to swallow paying for that time up front.
Single premium deal
- Price $0.99 $2.89 $3.99
- Websites 1 Unlimited Unlimited
- SSD Space 10GB 20GB 100GB
- Bandwidth 100GB Unlimited Unlimited
- MySQL databases 1 Unlimited Unlimited
- Free Domain Registration
- Free SSL
- Daily Backups
- Email accounts 1 Unlimited Unlimited
- Subdomains 2 100 100
- 24/7/365 customer support
Attracting a customer with a low price is nothing new in business and definitely nothing new in web hosting. Hostinger has done this a little differently, as their lowest tier is extremely affordable and easy to maintain.
The business tier, on the other hand, makes far more sense and is still relatively inexpensive if you want worry-free web hosting as your business grows.
Final Thoughts
With Hostinger, you get a favourable price and stay for the quality hosting experience. You may need to upgrade to the highest tier to get the best value for your money, but Hostinger’s service is on par with the best in the industry.
Hostinger is a top-notch hosting service that should be taken into consideration when choosing a web hosting provider.
